US Travel Update to Nigerians: Five Years Tourist Visa Validity for Nigerians

US Extends Tourist Visa Validity to Five Years For Nigerians

Fascinating news came through for Nigerians as the United States of America has announced that beginning March 1, 2023, it will extend visitor visa validity from 24 months to 60 months for Nigerians who wish to visit the country for business or tourism. This implies that the US tourist visa validity is no more than two years but five years.

It announced this in a press release issued yesterday, adding that the visa application fee, which is currently $160, would not increase due to the extended visa validity.

According to the statement, increasing visa validity is one of several initiatives undertaken by the US to reduce visa appointment wait times in Nigeria.

It also stated that the US Mission continues to provide No-Interview Visa Renewals to those who meet the eligibility requirements and that appointments for No-Interview Visa Renewals were readily available.

Visa Renewal Procedure/Requirement

It went on to say, “You may be eligible for a visa renewal without an interview if your application is for a B1/B2, F, M, J (academic only), H, L, or C1/D (combined only) visa, and you meet each of the following criteria below:

you are physically present in Nigeria, your previous visa was issued in Nigeria, your last visa was in the same classification as your current application, your last visa was a full-validity, multiple-entry visa, your previous visa expired within the last 48 months or will expire in the next three months from the date of application, you have all your passports covering the entire period since receiving the previous visa and the passport with the most recent visa.

It also added that you might be eligible if you have never been arrested or convicted of any crime or offense in the United States, even if you later received a waiver or pardon; you have never worked without authorization or remained beyond your permitted time in the United States.

How to Process US Visa

Applicants are directed to visit the US embassy website for further information. If an applicant met the criteria on the website, they could begin the application process on the dedicated website.
